Re: Mosquito Lagoon info
Re: Mosquito Lagoon First off, beautiful place. Both Banana and Indian Rivers can be fine. Lots and lots of shallow grass beds. If you're taking your kayak, look at launching around Merritt Island- lots of good kayak put in places there. South of Canaveral is some very good water around the No Motor...

Re: Titusville baby tarpon last weekend
Steve- yes, it will be next year before I'll try it again- I'd love to go see a rocket launch and also get into some backwater baby tarpon at Merritt Island. I had to leave my trip over there this fall early- kid got sick. but I plan on going back- it's a fine place.- Ed Mashburn

Re: Titusville baby tarpon last weekend
Steve- Exactly where were you at Titusville? I was down there a month or so ago- very, very windy- couldn't do much in the wind. We looked at Biolab road and Haulover Canal- looked at the bird road, too. I never saw any signs of baby tarpon, and I severely wanted to. Thanks- congratulations on the l...

bad weekend past for fishing
Good afternoon to all- We came down to the fish camp at Port St Joe- raining and blowing hard. so we loaded up the kayaks and drove to St Marks- raining and blowing there. finally, Monday morning was not too bad- put in at St Joe Bay- within an hour, it was raining and blowing. didn't get to fish mu...

Re: last week at Apaalch and SJB
re: PaddleJam- I agree. We are working to try and help the good folks at Apalach get the word out. Hopefully, next year will see a lot more paddlers and potential paddlers there. It's a very good idea for a festival- hope we can get it to develop even more- Ed Mashburn

last week at Apaalch and SJB
Good afternoon to all- Finally got a little downtime to work on the net. We spent last week working the PaddleJam show at Apalach- not as many folks as I'd hoped, but good folks were there. Then got to fish my favorite potholes in St. Joe Bay. The specks are sure enough still there. It got to the po...

St. Joe Bay last weekend
Good afternoon to all- I only got to fish Sunday morning on St. Joe Bay- rained us out the rest of the weekend and Monday. We didn't get many fish, but what we got were all nice male specks. They ate Spooks, live shrimp, GULPS on jigs, and even flyrod poppers. We got specks from 2 to nearly 5 pounds...

Re: Any tips on Yak fishing in St Joe Bay?
Gary- Fishing SJB can be intimidating, but there are fish all over the bay. I like to drift fish over the massive grassbeds and potholes- open lighter-colored sandy areas. I like to throw soft plastics- either on a light jig head or rigged weedless and weightless. I have found white and silver to be...

Re: Perdido Key/ Innerarity Point
Re: Perdido Key/Innerarity Point- there's a ramp down at Innerarity Point itself, free I think. If you can get out on Ono Island, there are several places to slide a kayak in from there- but it's private. I like the ramps up at Johnson Beach- east of Innerarity toward the NAS- good grass beds and Gu...

Went to Wakulla river Sunday
The river was low, low, and the current was strong. hard to get my peddle kayak up from the landing at TNT crossing. My flippers kept getting stuck in the low-water eel grass and stopping me. i was tired by the time I made it up past the two runs of faster water above the 98 crossing. I did manage t...

Re: Winter Yak Gear
Re- winter yak gear- Good afternoon to all- On this very nasty day, discussion of keep-me-warm 'yak gear seems very appropriate. I agree with the poster who mentioned light weight waders for use on a kayak. I have a pair of waders that keep me very warm and dry even on windy very chilly days. of cou...
