last week at Apaalch and SJB

Post by Ed Mashburn »

Good afternoon to all- Finally got a little downtime to work on the net.
We spent last week working the PaddleJam show at Apalach- not as many folks as I'd hoped, but good folks were there.
Then got to fish my favorite potholes in St. Joe Bay. The specks are sure enough still there. It got to the point that I couldn't fish two rods at once- they'd both go off at the same time, hard to manage. Most specks were in the 1-3 pound range. i did see one stud of a trout chasing a pinfish I hooked back to the boat. I tried to give slack and let the big'un take hold, but she didn't want the pinner that bad.
Live shrimp or GULP unweighted and rigged weedless- pitch it out, let it sink, and hold on.
Even caught a flounder off one of the pothole sandy bottoms- very nice to see one- I'd almost forgotten what they look like.
Can
t wait to get back down to the SJB area- got to go up and work a Hobie tournament at Kentucky Lake next week.
Good fishing to all- Ed Mashburn

That's the best report I've seen for a while. Maybe they'll move east and come see us.

Paddle Jam will never take off if they keep it a secret.

re: PaddleJam- I agree. We are working to try and help the good folks at Apalach get the word out. Hopefully, next year will see a lot more paddlers and potential paddlers there. It's a very good idea for a festival- hope we can get it to develop even more- Ed Mashburn
