Oyster Bay Boat Ramp

Postby Geoyaker » Fri Mar 09, 2012 11:03 am

As many of you may or may not know, the ramp at Oyster Bay is in bad shape. Not really for yaks but for boats. So my neighbor has taken it upon himself to fix it. He is currently curing several large slaps will be linked together and laid down. So this is more of an FYI if you have a boat or know someone that does. So spread the word that the ramp will be repaired by the end of the month. He is letting them cure for another week and then we are going to put them in place. I will update this post once we are finished with it.

Awesome! I noticed 2 weeks ago somebody put some gravel rocks in some of the pot holes on the ramp but a more permenant fix will be nice.

Well rumor has it that later this week or early next week we are going to fix the boat ramp. We are waiting on a fairly low (the less i have to freedive) tide and it will be fixed. The gravel was the first step in fixing it by filling in the monster hole. the slabs will lay on that gravel and then I believe he is going to lay some more on top to fill in between the slabs. Will keep you guys posted.

DONE. Finished it this morning. After working all night, some of the guys and myself put the slabs in the water, linked them together and bolted in a few. Next step is to get some pea gravel to fill in between the slabs and any holes. If you use this ramp please be kind and gentle to it. It is not maintained by the state, city, or county. It was one man who wanted a nice ramp for his boat.

I would have to say thank the man at the end of the road with deep pockets and just as deep generosity. anyway there has been a change since last post. we (well he) was planning on putting gravel down in between the slab but now we (again he) is going to put concrete between them. That should solidify them a little better. I think this will happen the next time we get a - low tide during daylight hours.

What road is the ramp located on? I drove all over the place yesterday and couldn't find it.
