Be careful, the FWC will harass you and your family and threaten to take your home and ruin your career if you dig up something that’s over 50 years old and keep it. Don’t believe me....well ask around. I’m guessing these folks had the proper permits and permissions but God help you if you don’t. Drug dealers get better treatment.

Got it ! I'll stick to dealing drugs ;-)

I'm pretty sure the reporters were there in an official capacity .. with the professors permitted to do the dig.

I know, and every time I hear about digs I get infuriated with the devastation that FWC did to a family just to coeierce an innocent man. He was a great man. God bless his soul.

Jeff - I don't know that story. Do you think there is a link to it? I never even knew that this kind of archeology research was going on in the Big Bend which is why I found the segment so interesting - but I could see point hunters being drawn like moths to a flame.

There will be no link to that story. But if you talk to me in person I’ll tell you about it. This forum is open so I’ll not discuss it here.
