Storage Box

Post by Mongo »

Not a genius innovation but I thought maybe someone else could use. As a "newbie", I'm not the most organized kayak fisherman and I've had a problem getting ready access to essentials like: pliers, leader line, sun screen, bug spray, camera, etc. They would inevitably end up under my legs in an inch or so of water. I already have so many things hanging around my neck (GPS, phone, braid scissors, whistle, compass) that it would be like a mill stone around my neck if I ever flipped. Came up with this idea and was finally able to find a plastic box (about $3) to fit in the Hummingbird recess on my Ocean Predator 15:

Worked out great on my last trip and everything stayed dry but probably would not under harsh conditions.

Top On top off, I would drill 4 holes in the bottom so it drains and use it wet rather than try to keep it dry. Nice idea.

Thanks BI! Although everything that goes in there will not be damaged by water (camera in waterproof case), it's been nice to keep them semi-dry. The first wave over the side that fills it like a fish tank will change my mind I'm sure.

Add an aerator and poof, a nice bait tank for glassies and mud minnows
