kayak storage rack

Post by Fyrewalker »

Found this in a Florida fishing magazine. Was pretty easy. May add casters on to it.
Also my device because I'm too uncoordinated to stand up.

Is that "device" a megaphone to call the engine room?

That "device" reminds me of a time, many years ago when drive-in movies were thriving and AIDS haven't been discovered, that some friends and I decided to buy beer and watch a couple X rated movies. We each bought 2 6 packs of Little Kings Cream Ale and went to the drive-in in one of the guy's Olds 442. When we got there he pulled out a section of old motorcycle inner tube and explained how we could save ourselves some trips to the restroom by hanging it out the car door and utilizing it. It actually worked pretty well but seemed to draw a lot of attention. Did I mention the 442 was a convertible?
For the record, that was 40+ years ago and I'm sure the statute of limitations was exceeded years ago. Oh, unfortunately I didn't need castors on my device.

But back to the original post (I think the devil made me share that old memory), I like the PVC racks. It's a nice clean look that, with castors, would make it easy to clean around and under. One of my kayaks rests on it's side on sort of a bench top that I built with a lip to keep it from sliding off. It works well and allows for storage underneath but it's a bear to clean under. My other kayak hangs from one of the sling type hangers directly above the first one but the kayak won't stay on its side so it takes up more space. The PVC racks are definitely a better setup.

The funnel and hose is a nice addition to almost everyone's kayak, some can just use the scupper hole. They work great but you must resist the urge to use it as a bugle to notify others within earshot that you have caught another gator trout! LOL :A1

Nice rack by the way
