Re: Catching Flounder
I like to fish low and slow at the mouths of creeks and tidal pools on outgoing tides, use a softail of some type, I dont use gulp so I stick with the tried and true salty dog that i have used for...well... a long time, basically a lead head and soft tail jig. I stick with two colors of tails, root beer (all time favorite) or if dirty water will use white. Cannot stress the idea of sloowwww enough.
Other places to fish for them but this has been pretty successful for me

Re: Catching Flounder
Flounder seem to set themselves up for the ambush, so think accordingly. Also , the bite is subtle...very subtle so let them take it to where they are ready to chew and eat before thinking of setting the hook. Bounce the bottom till you feel you may be snagged and then wait for the fish to ease away, then hit them. Hope you catch em!

Soft jerkbait on a jighead. I like to throw at structure such as dock pilings and channel markers.

I've caught my last couple around crab traps near the mouth of creeks. Although I've caught a couple traps too.

Re: Catching Flounder
A flounder will most often take a bait/lure tail first. They then turn the bait around with their tongue so it will be easier to swallow. That is why you need to give a slow count of three when you first feel the flounder take the bait. Best way to know exactly how long is to put a shrimp in your mouth. Take your tongue and rotate it around before you swallow
