Camera question
As someone who has never owned a camera (and has only even used my cell phone less than 10 times in two years), I'm asking for advice regarding a camera purchase for the FCKA tourney. Seems like lots of folks on this forum have expertise in this area. I guess I'm looking for something...
1. Waterproof (duh!)
2. REALLY simple; not too many bells/whistles for me to use incorrectly.
3. Compatible with the chip requirements stated in the tourney rules.
4. $150 max (is that reasonable?)
Thanks in advance for your help. Really looking forward to my first FCKA tourney, for which I found a used 12 foot Hornbeck Kevlar canoe. 22 pounds = easy shoulder carry to St Marks Refuge creeks!

Re: Camera question
Take a look at the Kodak Playsport. I am a technological idiot and it works well for me. I think it was $135 at Best Buy. It fits all your requirements, I think.

Re: Camera question
So far so good (just flytying pics but seems solid) with the Olympus 3000. $130 plus a bit for the SD card. See the "review" here for more info.

Re: Camera question
The TG310 has 31 shooting modes (including a pet mode for your dog and a separate pet mode for your cat) whereas the 3000 only has 25 .
The main thing I see is 14MP versus 12 MP and an improved rapid fire mode on the TG310. They are also pushing 3D still pictures but (yawn) I'm not sure that is important.
The 3000 has some internal memory on it but generally it seems the TG310 is made to replace the 3000.
You can check for yourself here (but they don't offer a side by side pros versus cons _ actually I found one here http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oim ... son_EN.pdf).
Also some info from below is swapped around as the 3000 has a rapid fire mode spec for 14MP even though it it only has a 12MP CCD - go figure.

Here is a useless comparison that says they are the same.
http://snapsort.com/compare/Olympus-TG3 ... Tough_3000
The question is it the MSRP or the street price that is the same ? ( amazon shows $135 for the 3000 and $195 for the TG310)
my $0.02

Re: Camera question
Great input, people; thanks. The best thing I'm taking in from these responses is that I don't need to cough up more than $150 to get the job done. Time to go price-hunting!
