Summertime, summertime

Post by Redbelly »

Is this time of year limited to early and late with yaks, due to the fish being out deeper in the hot sun? Makes sense to me. How do y'all do in summer fishing? What patterns?

I am experienced flats fishing from a prop, just curious on this aspect.

Look for a rookie out there this weekend in a rented yack :D

I would recommend wearing light, quick dry pants, or lots of sunscreen.

This time of year, any time you can get out on the water is a good time. You do have the good fishing window from first light to about an hour after sun up, longer if its foggy or overcast for topwater. Depending on the tide, I have fished close in all summer, fall, winter and spring and usually manage to find fish. When I get off the water early on the hot days, its usually for my own benefit.

mr. r. belly.,
no need to venture too far out, the fish are just as playful in close. i 2nd what fishbaitbilly said, sun up and sundown can be a lot of fun.
and the long pants and shirt will help keep the bugs off as well as the sun.

tight lines. let us know how you do.
