cast net at St. marks Lighthouse
Is there a dock or pier to cast net without wading? I heard cast netting wasn't allowed there but I'm skeptical.

No cast netting allowed in any of the "pools". But ok down at the shore or the creeks.
Big mullet constantly traveling around the jetty but be prepared to wade, especially when you get hung up on a rock.

There is one landing under the watch tower, but it does not get a lot of mullet traffic, but some. Thr "Cedar" Trail to the right of the boat launch is a better bet, then walk the shore (sometimes you get lucky along here)to the point, there is a shallow bar (kneedeep)at the end that has mullet in the winter on sunny days.

I've seen gators and a rattlesnake swimming at the lighthouse. I still have a pic of the rattlesnake swimming so I don't know.BigIrish wrote:There is one landing under the watch tower, but it does not get a lot of mullet traffic, but some. You will face wildlife along the coast wherever you wade or walk. perhaps you should put down the net and stay in your yak and fish.

LOL, No yak. I've been in a capsized jon boat in a lake so highly doubt I'll be in a yak ever...just saying.bk wrote:You will face wildlife along the coast wherever you wade or walk. perhaps you should put down the net and stay in your yak and fish.
