Question for Lake Jackson experts

I fished it for the first time ever today, launching the kevlar canoe at Miller Landing Road. In between hookups with mostly small keeper bass, I noticed pods of larger fish in open water, schooling like mullet, but with pronounced dorsal fins breaking the surface. Definitely not bass or gar. I'm guessing carp. Can any Lake Jackson vets confirm or educate?

Oh baby. I'm gonna go back and try for them. They're giganticus! If they like the grass that grows all over LJ, it's no wonder they're so hoggy.

Carp recipes, anyone? (And yes, I've heard the one about nailing them to a board, skinning them, then throwing them away & cooking the board...).

Im pretty sure they are illegal to keep if you catch them.Common carp would be ok but grass carp(white armur) are protected.Catch and release only.

We got into carp fishing pretty heavy last summer.We done pretty good below the dam in chattahoochee.When you hang into one they just dont quit.kinda like a freshwater redfish.It would probably be pretty easy to catch those in jackson on bread.Bait em a couple days and they should be ready.I bet those monsters would give a prety good sleighride.
