St. Marks River

Post by H_luciae »

Had a day off on Friday and went down the St. Marks from River Rise to 98 bridge. What a great day to be out on the water. Tried out a Hobie with pedal drive- definitely got a leg workout. Used the fly rod and several different flies, including the "mop fly". Caught some nice redbreast and saw a school of stripers. Overall a fine day going down the river with neighbor.

Catching river Redbreasts in the winter is still worth bragging about even though most everybody here probably knows how. Good job. Did you see any mullet? I've been on places on the upper St Marks where very few people have been since I guess the 80s when alot of it was closed. I've since snuck in for a peep a few times and I've also since paddled a bunch of it the legal way (although I've never actually made it to where I was going). There are some Redbreasts and Warmouth up that way that will rock your world. In spite of all that I've never been above the 98 bridge.
